Oak Room (2 – 4 year olds)

The Oak room is fully equipped for children aged 2 – 4 years old. Ten areas of continuous provision including areas for reading, mark making, painting, constructing, role play etc are regularly enhanced to reflect the interests of the children attending the setting, and cater for their individual requirements; this ensures that your child remains focused and eager to learn and achieve. Your child’s key practitioner will work closely with you, and undertake regular observations of your child, to help inform our planning and provide appropriate activities and resources to assist your child on their learning journey.

We have a very close working relationship with Bickerstaffe C of E Primary School whose grounds we are based in. We engage with the school by paying regular visits to display our work, Easter bonnet parade,Chinese New Year, Christmas Nativity, dance and sport activities etc. The school children often come along to read stories to the children and help out with activities. We always celebrate events such as Mothers day and Fathers day where the children invite you in to be pampered, served refreshments and engage in some planned activities.

Children are encouraged to be independent and learn to help with preparing snack and helping to clear away, they have their own designated coat peg, they are taught respect for our setting and resources and their peers. We are happy to assist you and your child through various stages of personal development including toilet training and feeding. Your child’s key practitioner holds an ongoing record of your child’s achievements which you are free to look at at any time.

Each child is eligible to claim for 15 hours free childcare per week (term time) from the term following their 3rd birthday. We are flexible in our approach and you can choose to access just the 15 free hours or you can access more hours for which their is an hourly or sessional fee (see the booking form for more details).
